Our Partnerships: Amplifying Impact Together
At the Urban Design League, partnerships are at the heart of our work. We collaborate with community organizations, educational institutions, and leaders in STEAAM to provide youth with enriching opportunities that expand their horizons.
The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute
UDL played a key role as a community partner in the Sankofa Young Women’s Leadership Program, an arts and culture workshop series launched by the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI). Targeting young Black and Brown women aged 14-18 in New York City, the program focuses on cultural enrichment through connections between African diasporic oral traditions and Hip-Hop. UDL's founder, Janeen Ettienne, led workshops on self-identity narratives, contributing to a curriculum designed to reclaim cultural values lost to systemic oppression. UDL's involvement reinforces its commitment to empowering marginalized youth by connecting them with their cultural roots and leadership principles through advocacy.
